Sometimes a part for the whole is good enough in life. Pilate offered to simply whip Jesus and let him go, hoping that would be enough to satisfy the angry crowds. Thankfully, Jesus didn't only pay part of the cost for our sins, but the full cost. His payment wasn't "close enough." It was perfect and complete.
