Not only does sin bring death into the world, but it is the source of all our pain and grief. As much as we would try to balance the scales or compare ourselves to others, none of this undoes the condemnation we have earned. Death will one day reduce us to ashes; therefore, now is the time for our hearts to be reduced to ashes in repentance.
